Our Partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry

Spin Up Science partners with Royal Society of Chemistry to deliver entrepreneurial training for university-based finalists of the RSC Emerging Technologies Competition.

The Emerging Technologies Competition is a prestigious program ran by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) to identify and support entrepreneurs with ground-breaking, chemistry-led innovations which tackle societal challenges, support a sustainable future and drive economic growth.

Spin Up Science has partnered with the RSC to deliver their Pioneer Program to the university-based finalists of the competition. This 6-part series covers the foundations of innovation and spinning out companies and is designed to offer the practical knowledge and skills to unlock the applicant’s technical expertise as a scientist or engineer. The finalists will hear from entrepreneurs, investors, and industry partners on a range of topics covering assembling a spinout team and raising finance through to how to talk to industry.

Other 2023 RSC Emerging Technologies Competition Partners

Each year, early-stage startups and academic entrepreneurs are invited to apply for RSC Emerging Technologies Competition and the opportunity to win £25,000, along with commercial skills training and support, invaluable publicity and exposure, and access to the RSC network of advisors, mentors and investors. Applicants must be developing novel and disruptive chemistry-based technologies in one of the competition’s four categories: Enabling Technologies, Energy, Environment or Health.

The RSC is the catalyst for the chemistry that enriches our world. With a strong focus on collaboration, the RSC brings scientists together to make discoveries and innovation happen, as well as publishing the latest advances in cutting-edge research to develop, recognise and celebrate the professional capabilities of scientists.

Spin Up Science is delighted to play a role in this year's RSC Emerging Technologies Competition to nurture and develop the commercial skills of the finalists, as well as provide practical advice and support on spinning out scientific technology companies.

Applications open on 20th February. Find out more about the application process and judges, as well as previous winners and success stories on the RSC website.
