Spin Up Science are delighted to announce we are collaborating with Kidney Research UK and In-Part for the Kidney MedTech Competition.

The Kidney MedTech competition is open to scientists who are developing transformational technologies to improve the lives of kidney patients.  Winners will be supported to develop the skills and knowledge to take their research technologies from discovery through to investment and collaboration, to use in the clinic or the community.  There are 6 prizes worth £30,000 available, comprising £25,000 funding to accelerate research as well as places on our Academy Programme to support researchers in developing complimentary commercial skill sets, worth £5000.

The Kidney MedTech Competition offers six prizes, worth £30,000, to accelerate research and make research count for patients sooner, through the use of health technologies.

Kidney Research UK are looking to award prizes for innovations spanning novel health technologies, early/improved diagnosis, better informing clinician decision-making, simplifying care pathways, assisting patients with self-care and monitoring or generally improving patient quality of life.

Alongside the funding, winners will join our 6 month Academy programme covering  the practical knowledge of how to drive forward research innovation, a crash-course in spotting opportunities, a business-building bootcamp and an immersive experience of launching and running a technology start-up company.

KRUK are the UK’s leading kidney disease research organisation, and in the UK kidney disease affects 3 million people, 64,000 are reliant on dialysis with 20 people developing kidney failure daily, and five people die every week whilst waiting for a transplant.

Spin Up Science are proud to be working with KRUK to support the winners of the MedTech competition and assist them on their journey to deliver research impact with the potential to improve the lives of millions of patients suffering with long-term kidney illness.
